So happy that we chose Stair Steps to renovate our staircase. Found them on line and was very impressed the reviews. Tom and his crew were amazing from start to finish. Tom is very knowledgeable, patient and professional and goes above and beyond to make sure that you are happy with the results. We are so happy with our staircase! Tom's crew showed up on time every morning, followed Covid 19 protocols and worked hard and meticulously every day they were here. They were professional and polite and went above and beyond. They even hung our prints back on the wall at the end of the job. We are thrilled with the way our staircase turned out! We have already recommended them to friends and family. Tom was the initial person I spoke with when getting a quote to replace my well worn carpet with hardwood stairs. He knew what he was talking about and answered all of my questions sometimes twice. The team he sent to do the work Majid and his apprentice Matthew were extremely professional and worked well together completing the job in the three days time they said they would. I couldn't be happier with the results. The stairs are incredibly beautiful and fine workmanship. Majid took great care making sure that everything was done to precision and explained anything he was doing and answered any questions I had. They worked hard, cleaned up after themselves and did an incredible job. Turned out better than I could have imagined. Thanks to the whole team - Tom, Majid and Matthew!

Thank you StairSteps. After dreaming of my new stairs for about two years, I finally got down to serious planning. I chose StairSteps because of the many great written reviews and conversations with satisfied customers but also because of Tom's attention to detail. If that much detail was put into the quote, I truly believed that same attention to detail would be in the work. I wasn't wrong. In addition, Tom's experience provided me with design details that I never thought of.

The finished job is amazing. There were a couple of fixes and they were promptly taken care of. There is nothing that I would have done differently, nothing I would change, nothing I regret doing. My stairs are the envy of my family and friends. I strongly recommend Tom and StairSteps. Based on my experience, you won't be disappointed.

My hardwood floors are awesome and my hardwood staircase is beyond my dreams. It is just spectacular. Tom's knowledge and experience shows with those finishing touches that took the staircase to the next design level. Majid is a true craftsman when it comes to staircases. The best experience I've had with any type of contractor. I decided to replace all the carpet on my stairs as well as 2 bedrooms and a hallway. I live in a townhouse with 3 levels and numerous stairs and landings including one set of floating stairs. I started the process of getting quotes and found it daunting. The few that came took measurements but then never bothered quoting at all or provided quotes that were far too expensive. I found Tom by looking up pictures of stairs online and it was obvious he had experience. He acted professionally right from the start, arriving on time providing a details quote including a timeline and provided options right on the spot including various ways the project could be done. The work was completed efficiently and on par with what was quoted. A year later, when humidity compromised one of the landings, he was there to fix it even though it had nothing to do with his workmanship. He also provided suggestions how to prevent similar suggestions from happening. He's good at what he does, he's professional and reasonably priced and stands behind his work. What else can you ask for. I would recommend him to anyone.

We wanted to replace all of our carpet upstairs with flooring due to allergies and not knowing anyone to install it we were given Tom's name. He did a tremendous job with the installation on our upstairs that we arranged for all the flooring in my kitchen, dining room and study to be replaced as well. Tom came in and did such an amazing job. We get so many compliments on how great it looks. If we had more flooring to replace we would certainly ask Tom to do the work. We highly recommend him.

What a pleasure it is to deal with someone who is not only a master at his trade, but takes great pride in his work as well. After having interviewed numerous tradesmen to do our staircase we settled on Tom after only an email. In that email we knew we had "our guy." He answered every question we had, asked us questions, made sure we understood the process, and was able to give us a quote. The fact that he was very prompt with phone calls and emails was very much appreciated. He put in long hours, starting and finishing the project on schedule, and the bonus was he was an absolute pleasure to be around. You need staircase to be done? You need to do hardwood installation in your house? How about having a genius mind, genuine person, reasonable price and caring hands to take care of your needs? Sounds like wow!!??!! Give Tom a call after you have couple of estimations from the market. You will right away know “This is my Guy!!” We did give a call to all big names in the market and requested the estimation for the hardwood staircase and hardwood installation in four bedrooms upstairs in our newly bought house. They were not bad but their quotations (price) didn’t seem reasonable and genuine. Then came Tom, we talked and he agreed to come to give us an estimation. On the very first meeting we found him very interesting as he is very knowledgeable person for this work and not only this, he takes great pleasure to educate his customers regarding the type of quality work, what should be done and how would it look etc. Tom’s work is excellent with precision and perfection; we are truly grateful that we found Tom to do our renovation. Our house looks spectacular! He has a lot of knowledge in his field which helped us to choose the right hardwood as well as educated us on the type of renovation we needed for our house. Are you looking for a reliable and very professional Hardwood or Stairs Installer? Tom is the guy. 

We started working on our hardwood flooring with help of our friend. But very soon we realized that putting the flooring our-selves, even with all the tools, will not be easy. There were too many complicated cuts required to put the flooring on our complete first floor. I found Tom online and read the reviews on his website. It was a risk that we took to have someone we do not know do the work but believe us, it was totally worth it. 

Tom was really professional. He took care of every single piece of hardwood that he placed on the floor. He started every day on exactly the time he promised. He did not go for any quick fix/solutions wherever needed. He spent enough time to get the best solution in place. He doesn’t mind at all doing extra stuff, that others will never bother doing. He did install our baseboards after installing the hardwood and even did cocking of the baseboards to hide the nail marks. Our friends who came and saw the finished floor, were so impressed by his work that they have decided to get their floors done from him as well. I am looking forward to get my stairs done from him as well, in march. 

I will highly recommend Tom for hardwood flooring and stairs projects.

Right from the get go, I knew Tom was a consummate professional who knew his onions. He was meticulous in his approach: he measured every inch of my stairs; talked about materials and went away to do his maths. Sent me a weblink to access his quote, which was detailed without hidden surprises. Once work started, Tom took his time to do a really fantastic job: he went over and beyond in delivering on the job including painting of my wall. Tom cleaned up after each day at work and was simply a joy doing his work.

My Wife and I recently had our Carpeted stairs replaced by Hardwood stairs, and also had our railing refurbished as well as new Posts and Spindles put in. We also took all the carpeting out from our upstairs Landing and had it replaced by Hardwood flooring.

When Tom came by originally to do our quote I knew that he was going to be the man for the job. He is very personable and easy to get along with and takes the time to do things properly. He gave us a great quote and provided us with a timeline on when it would be finished and how long each process would take. 

Once the work began he showed up every day when he said he would and provided us with a daily progress report on what got completed. 

The quality of Tom's work is exceptional and will take the time to do things right even if it means working longer days which he did quite a bit in order to finish the job in a timely manner. We also left him alone in our home each day when he was working as my Wife and I both work and had no issues whatsoever, Tom is a very trustworthy and reliable guy.

When it was all said and done Tom literally transformed the entry, stairs and upstairs of our house. I honestly cant believe the difference it has made. Both my Wife and I are extremely happy with the outcome and we have zero complaints. He followed his timeline perfectly and had the job done when he said he would and there were no hidden costs at all which was great. Tom is an extremely dedicated and Hard worker and wont stop until the customer is happy.

We recently had our carpeted stairs changed to wood. We sought out 4quotes and met two contractors in person. We decided to hire Tom for a couple of reasons. His quote wasn't the cheapest and it wasn't the most expensive. He came out one night and we discussed the process step by step. We received a detailed quote and we were able to make some changes to improve the look during the process. It is easy to do this when each component of the job is priced out. The process took under two weeks and it is easy to see why it is not a quick job. Every step was carried out to perfection and the final product is fantastic. We have referred Tom to a number of friends already. He is honest, hard working and reliable. His deposit was for materials only and we paid as parts of the job were completed. Did we check references? (No..gasp) we hired Tom based on a handshake and a gut feeling. This was the first time we hired a contractor and it was a great experience. I wouldn't hesitate to hire Tom again, have him work in the house when we aren't there and recommend him. He also came back after the fact for a touch up... No questions asked!

Tom and his crew at StairSteps recently completed our stairs, and we couldn't be any happier. We needed our carpeted stairs to be refinished to hardwood stairs and my wife called a couple of contractors to get an idea of cost.  Tom came to the house to get a better idea of what was required and was able to give us a detailed explanation of what the process was, and by the time he left that evening, I knew he was the one for the job.  The following day, he provided us with a detailed quote that explained all the work being done and the cost.   Once we paid the deposit to get the work started, a couple of weeks later the job was done.  They went the extra mile to make sure the existing railing went back into place properly and that the colour and finish matched the existing oak finish.  The guys even  made sure everything was cleaned up nicely before they left.  During the entire process, Tom was always communicating with us so we knew when and what was going to happen next.  The completed stairs now look amazing.  If any of my friends or family were looking to have their stairs done, I  would definitely recommend they call Tom.

Found Stair Steps while searching the internet for my stair project. Reading "ABOUT" Tom prompted me to contact him as he shares the same values as me. Customer reviews were impressive which convinced me that Tom is the man for the job. What really was impressive is that all staining is done offsite which meant no waiting for the steps to dry between staining. Also very impressive is that Tom got back to me promptly by phone and email as well as keeping me informed.... something other companies failed at.

Tom and his crew removed and replaced the carpeting with hardwood on 2 sets of stairs at a very reasonable price. He made suggestions of replacing the posts and spindles for an updated look which I appreciated and was glad that I took his advice. He also saved me some money by keeping the existing banister and stringers matching the stain perfectly. The finished project looks truly amazing.

Tom is very honest, very knowledgeable and takes great pride in his work. He was not happy until I was happy. He did go above and beyond with extras when a few things needed to be touched up. You will not be disappointed if you hire Tom.
