We recently had our carpeted stairs changed to wood. We sought out 4quotes and met two contractors in person. We decided to hire Tom for a couple of reasons. His quote wasn't the cheapest and it wasn't the most expensive. He came out one night and we discussed the process step by step. We received a detailed quote and we were able to make some changes to improve the look during the process. It is easy to do this when each component of the job is priced out. The process took under two weeks and it is easy to see why it is not a quick job. Every step was carried out to perfection and the final product is fantastic. We have referred Tom to a number of friends already. He is honest, hard working and reliable. His deposit was for materials only and we paid as parts of the job were completed. Did we check references? (No..gasp) we hired Tom based on a handshake and a gut feeling. This was the first time we hired a contractor and it was a great experience. I wouldn't hesitate to hire Tom again, have him work in the house when we aren't there and recommend him. He also came back after the fact for a touch up... No questions asked!
